Coronavirus has come a long way since March 2020 and it has certain long-term effects on an individual’s overall health. The symptoms of coronavirus can persist for months and for years as well as this virus can damage your heart, brain, and lungs. Due to this reason, the chances of long-term health issues can increase significantly.

There were so many people who were having coronavirus and they recovered completely within a few weeks. While some people who had mild symptoms of COVID-19, continue to suffer even after their initial recovery. Such people are known as “long haulers” and their situation after recovery can be termed as a post-COVID-19 syndrome. This post-COVID-19 condition can bring adverse symptoms or effects that can persist for more than a month.

However, within a few months, the medical experts were able to understand this deadly virus enough so that they can easily recognize its presence by doing some specific tests. The experts said that coronavirus testing status USA is extremely essential to not only treat COVID-19 patients but to identify and reduce the spread of this disease.

Generally, people with weak immune systems and the aged ones who already have serious medical issues are more likely to experience the post-COVID-19 symptoms or effects. Even healthy and young people can feel unwell for five to six weeks after having an infection. Following are the most common symptoms that usually linger with time.

  • Pain in joints
  • Fatigue
  • Coughing
  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Headache or Muscle Pain
  • Loss of sense of smell and taste
  • Chest pain
  • Sleeping or memory issues
  • Anxiety and Depression
  • Fever
  • Severe issues in mental and physical activities
  • Fever
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Dizziness

However, as now we have a large range of options for coronavirus testing status USA, so people used to ask a lot of questions about the accuracy of these testing options and when is the right time to go for a COVID test. Now, you can find different types of COVID-19 tests which are divided into two different categories such as antibody test and diagnostic test.

Diagnostic Tests

There are two major types of diagnostic tests that can be used to detect coronavirus officially such as antigen testing and molecular testing.

  • Molecular Testing or PCR Test

Molecular testing mainly involves sponging mucus from the deep corner of your nose or at the back of the throat. Then, they send this swab to a laboratory where it is examined thoroughly. This test is considered the most accurate way of testing coronavirus. As the test is supposed to be examined by a laboratory, it may take longer to get the results.

  • Antigen or Rapid Testing

The same swabbing process of mucus is involved in rapid testing as molecular testing but it is not supposed to be evaluated at the laboratory. So, you can get the result of your test quickly. People are more likely to get this type of testing if they go to drive-thru testing sites.

However, rapid testing is quite useful for identifying COVID-19 antigens. Generally, it takes some time for antigens to appear in the system which means that it is possible to be a COVID-19 patient but get a negative report from the rapid antigen testing.
